Mala's arent the only wolves with a herringbone pattern. Looks like it could also be microlepis.
Now it's getting interesting. I will have to try and get a photo underneath the jaw. I guess I will have to remove it from the water. Glad it's not a foot long! LOL.

Maybe I don't need a photo! See the post below.

According to this post on another site...(http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/52604-post106.html) to ID a microlepis is the dot on the cheek which I have and the two lines making the arrow on the face, which I have!! Hopefully, maybe it is a Hoplias Microlepis.

There is chance that is a Hoplias Microlepis as...

- the jaw shape
- the marking on it face

and mala body marking is more to / / / /
yours is /\/\/\/

Just keep it and feed it till it is fatter so easier to see.

BTW I am Wolfman at bc

they call it Hoplias sp. Tiger

Still sticking with Microlepis. Not based on the other photos or links provided. But head is too short and round (stubby) for mala, and the lines in the pattern seem smaller, closer together, and theres more dashes in it's pattern than in a mala's.

You mean you agree with me?
The truth is I normally base on some fact for ID the rest is my feeling..
Eg 1 look I think it is then confirm again.
