These two genera (some even say they are paraneetropuls now!) has a number of fish that look similar when young, and sexing them visually is pretty much impossible at this size. If you bought a group you can sometimes pick out the bigger males, still not 100% though. I think you're in the right ballpark with the species, but it's going to be hard to say 100% at this size. Grow them out, it's like a game where you don't know what you're gonna get! ;)

Yeah I'm trying to grow them out fast.

I would have to disagree on them being paratheraps bifasciatus. Bifas have a heavy black spotting above the lateral line and the top one clearly doesn't have that. Color doesn't seem verry bifa either. I'd say syn/mela
+1 possible hybrid syn. too small to tell. also looks a lil stressed. try n get some better shots. kool pick up either way

I just got both and was just recently placed in their new tank when I took the pics. The unpacking from the bag what made them stressed as they traveled about 5 hours from where I got them. Will take better pics soon.

Just curious, what were the labeled as when you bought them? What did the person you bought them from say they are?

The LFS owner does not know what they are as they came in with his shipment of vieja argentea. So he sold them to me for $10 each as he got no clue what they are.

the first is definantly synspilum, the second iam not quite sure.
