Point 1 post #9.... Stupid common name but a gar it is likely an asian import fish... ID is real hard on these fish... They are all Florida / spotteds but may actually be Florida x spotted hybrids.. It is not clear at this time..

They grow out of those little trailers on the tail, but gar do have them when young

I do the same. LFS owners think they are know it alls. and wont listen to a thing anyone else says. You may have already read this somwhere else, but i bought my Florida and Longnose gars as 'dwarf gars', i tried telling the owner of the store that the gar was a Florida or Spotted and he said there was no such thing. It made me really mad. Oddly enough i get most of my fish from that store. lol

Not mine getting an id for a friend he bought it as a spotted but doesnt look right to me looks a little gator what do you guys think this is?????
