IME, I've never seen it live and this is a third photographed specimen I've ever seen. Hence, very rare. The experience of others probably differs. It is made for food in SA, just like other hybrids - TSNxRTC, TSNxPlaniceps, TSNxLeiarius, RTCxPangasius, etc. - so if there was a demand many will appear in the ornamental fish trade sooner or later.
There are two major reasons hybrids are made for food:
1. Hybrid vigor.
2. Total or substantial infertility.
