Amphilophus citrinellum type...caught a ton there, where were you? Like the hat that guy is about 20 minutes from me...

That definitely got me confused for a second but this looks identical to any Mayan I have ever seen. Are you sure you think this a Midas?

I'm not sure its a Amphilophus citrinellum, doesn't have a nuchal hump, doesn't have the right patterns and coloration, and the dorsal fin looks different, a mayan cichlid is more likely

I agree with newworld, if this was caught in Florida or Mexico it might have been Mayan, but look where its caught, Nicaragua!
This is where Amphilophines are endemic, .....and the mid body circular blotch is not pronounced in uropthalmos as it is in the photo.

Face + profile of head looks more like a citrinellum to me as well. Coloration looks mayan but could just be nice barred midas. That would be my guess.
