I’m kinda thinking protemelas taeniolatus, but it’s probably a hybrid

I think it might be a Red Empress. The downward angled face stripe is very similar to Red Empress I've kept.
This pic is of a juvenile Red Empress I once kept.

It does look very similar, I don’t know if this changes things but I do see yours has a white trim on the dorsal fin and mine has red trim

Yeah, I don't know whether slight differences in finnage trim designate a different species.
The dreaded assorted Cichlid tank. Lol.

Guess it’s not a red empress, tiger tangerine is my guess now
