everything is moving towards it and I had this idea for stocking as I already have the lion

red volitan lionfish (mine has so much personality it is so fun to have
2 maroon clownfish (I have a tank to grow them to size first)
1 tang (still picking the type dunno any input?)

would that be too much. It was gonna be mainly zoanthids and xenia. maybe a few mushrooms.

That is not too much, but as the lion grows you are going to have to watch the clownfish. They may become breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lionfish can make any fish that fits in their mouth become dinner.

A 75 is small for a tang. As the tang gets bigger, you are either going to need to upgrade or remove the tang. They needs lots of swimming room.

Maroon Clowns are potentially large dominant aggressive fish. You will need to have a proven bonded pair, as they will not tollerate each other in a tank so small. It takes a long time to take two individuals and be certain that they bond with each other safely. You would need a second tank with a divider to keep them in the same water but separated for as long as it takes.

depending on the tang a 75 will work fine
as long at it's not like a dussumeiri or vlamingi or something..

aside from not being able to keep things like shrimp and what not with the lion, it sounds good,
you could add maybe a tobbacco bass marine betta, anthias, or butterfly (certain types ARE reef safe)

Even a yellow tang can outgrow a 75 and rather quickly. Once a yellow, purple, atlantic, etc reach 5 inches, a 75 is too small. Maybe a kole tang but no tangs are recommended in my opinion.

sadly it is just that, there's so much variance in adult size that i really dont see people agreeing on a max size or min tank in the near future..

for example, there's one yellow tang we've had for about 9 months now whos almost 8 inches long

there's another we've had for about 2 years who'd 3.. and trust me, there isn't even a possibility of stunting in this situation..

to each his own i suppose

one thing I heard about the lion is if it can't eat the fish when they are put together it won't try to later on. if that's the case i wouldn't really have to worry about the clowns if I get big enough of ones.

yeah.. if you add them first (preferably while kinda large) and let them grow for a while before you get the lion you should be fine..

people keep marroons and tomatos with "full" sized lions

yeah. that's what I am thinking is that it will be fine as long as they are large enough. I am gonna buy them before I put the lion in there and have them in there a while before I put the lion in there. the lion is still a baby and in my 29 gallon happy as can be eating convict fry for dinner every night. lol.

oh yeah big, I like the changed bender quote you got in your sig
