idea to complelty eliminate water changes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats actualy not a bad idea with the rain drum, I live in the city though so I would be worried about contaminations but instead of doing manual water changes I could just get another 1200 gph pump from Danner (I think) that cost $100.

Keep me updated on that neon tetra 30 gallon experiment though.

i will update MFK members about it. but as said.. it will start a month from now once my 180 has been cycled completely and once i transfer all the dats to the 180 and the remaining goldfishes to the 60 with my sterbai corydoras. then by that time the 30 gal will be free. :D

dont you think it will smell after no w.c.... on my tank main part of w.c is to keep the tank from getting smelly

I have given up on the idea because the electricity it will cost to evaporate a 1 gallon of water per hour will cost more than 120 gallons a week does.

Lol, I guess the only way to keep water and electric costs down would be to move to SA to a hous next 2 the amazon an pump in water from the river and have it overflow out, lol.

How about a solar distiller, a DIY one would be cheap. At least running it part of the year would save some $, and would be an interesting experiment. Chill the water outside with a coil in the ground.

If your tank smells your doing it wrong! Get a test kit and see what is off.

make a drip system

I don't even use water, I just fill my tanks with Prime. LOL

To eliminate the heat issue you could use a r/o unit, still have to reconstitute the mineral content though
