Ideal burm enclosure...

well i have FINALLY been able to get the boys to decide when they r both free (both vounteered to make him a new viv but been busy since lol) and the burm is getting his upgrade tomorrow.
im going for a footprint of 8x3x2.

so what can u suggest i can put in there for him...apart from the obvious lol

he will have a huge ceramic pipe which will have about 4 exits. i will put his hide he has in now but hes outgrown it, but just something that hes comfortable with. will b upgrading that to a dog basket soon.

iv always gone basic with all my snakes but would like to do something a bit special for him now hes got something nice.
his viv atm hasnt got lights so u cant really see in to it anyway. but this one will so i wana make it a kinda show piece.

i put his hide for the warm end under his lamp, and he likes to go on top so hes pretty much curled around the lamp lol...btw the lamp has a cage round it so he doesnt burn himself on it.

i just want something more attractive. thinking of maybe hanging down some fake plants down the back. giving him a proper substrate as opposed to just newspaper. that kinda thing

I would say keep it simple too. Maybe use cypress mulch as a substrate instead of news paper but any plants that you put in there will be moved around and difficult to clean. Maybe you could just paint the back wall. I have seen some nice looking enclosures done that way.

hhmmm theres an idea.....
i did think he would pull them down but they r also pretty cheap so if they get ruined etc i can just toss that idea out the window. im guna put in a branch that will b able to withstand his weight for him to climb...hes quite the explorer so thought it may give him something to do.

i can always put the pipe in someone else viv if i end up overcrowding his lol

ooo. here's a cool idea: you could anchor the branches to the back wall and then paint them into the design so that it looks like a tree branch or something is coming out of the painting....

i saw a marlin painting and fiberglass head that did the same thing, it was really cool

right well it snowed here and the country has pretty much shut down lol so it will be sometime this week.

i said about painting it and the one thats coming didnt seem too "for" it lol but ill see what i can come up with.

right, went for an 8x3x3, so thats half my living room gone lol. wasnt quite the 80 i got told including glass.
so far its £116 for the wood and £35 (with discount) for the sealant.
so its been built (minus glass and runners) and iv put the other vivs on top of it to get them out the way.
over this wknd i will be sealing it. do it tonight, then tomo give it a light wipe over with sandpaper, then seal it again. then the next night, sanpaper and seal. then monday hopefully wer going to get the glass and runners.
im going to get a small pond to put in there so he can have a good soak and fit his whole body in. then over that im going to fix in a 5ft log at and angle over the pond, so he can climb if he wants and then hide at the other end.

not sure what his hide is going to be now. may get a dog basket then try and disguise it with some sphagnum moss.
and as substrate go with some orchid bark, it should hold the humidity in the tank better than newspaper lol. i will prob end up changing it to newspaper eventually after changing it every time he wees lol but still, the size it is i want it to be attractive.
