I am looking for the ideal clean up crew that I can get for my rays in the 220 gallon. Looking for opinions and experiences! My idea is a school of tinfoils, a school of thin or wide bar silver dollars, and a school of giant danios or Congo tetras? The tins to eat the poo and left over food, the silver dollars to eat left over food and the danios or tetras to filter out smaller particle matter that the others won't bother to eat? Does this sound like an effective idea or not really?

Lots and lots of threads about clean up Chew

If you have a shoal of both dollars and tinfoils you will have problems getting food to the rays

T1 is right, too many greedy mid water fish will be a problem. I used to have a large Niger catfish in my pond with rays, with the intention of cleaning up, it did such a good job I struggled like hell to feed the rays.

Stick with tinfoils, tried and tested

Hmmm but what else can I add I want something else similar to just kinda cruise around and be active that isn't a predator or something like I am now staying away from a predator comm and just want some nice active fish so if not silver dollars what should I add then?

The wide bars get real big real fast and become an issue with gluttony... I would think the same with the tinfoils in a 220... I have clown Loaches but you need to get pretty big ones as the rays grow quickly and then try to eat them. Some of the midsize dollars may work like thin bars or tigers... I also have filament barbs that work well they get around 8 inches and eat the poop...

I have thought about altifrons and loaches scare me because they always seem to get ick

Can't say I've ever had issues with geos, nor a couple of mates of mine who both keep/kept geos with rays. Personally I do my WCs with stored water to match the temp but I didn't in the past and still had no health issues with the geos.

Have also heard tiger dollars are meant to be pretty good, not producing too much waste themselves and not greedy
