I have kept Tilapia in unheated aquarium with natives. Way better at the lower end of the 70's spectrum. 72 - 74 is ideal!I had HORRIBLE e
xperience keeping Green Sunfish in 80+ degree Red Belly Piranah tank. The additional 6 - 8 degree temperature put them in out of control agression. They beat
the crap out of three 6"+ RBP's and had to be returned to my farm pond.Keep in mind, that "common" sunfish can be on the EXTREME upper end of the agression
scale even surpassing that of Cichlids (ESPECIALLY at temperatures over 74 degrees!!!!)Most people do not understand the extreme agression of these "basic c
ommon" fish. I have a small 7" - 8" Green Sunfish and it runs the tank with larger Dovi, Butterkofi Tilapia, 16+" Venezuelan Pike Cichlid & Jaguar Cichlid!
