Good morning all! Short background on me and the aquarium in question is my dad set this up almost 11 years ago. It has been running steady with very few issues. Since he passed away in 2009 I have been taking care of the tank. Some of these fish came from our house aquarium and we have had them for going on 12 years.
Some time between now and the end of the year my wife and I want to build an insert and break down the tank to polish the scratches and such out. The part I need help with is some ideas for the insert. My wife can sculpt very well if I show her what I want. I have been searching for some pictures of oscars and South American cichlids in natural habitat but I'm not finding anything that would translate well into an aquarium. Our initial thought was just a large tree trunk over the center overflow.
So I'm trying to reach out for ideas. We will not be utilizing live plants in this tank. Oh and to make this more fun it's in my moms business so naturally I will have to do the conversion/polishing over a holiday weekend. We will have to build the insert prior to. If this was your blank slate how would you do it? Picture make it easier for my pea brain haha.
