I would say a payara (Hydrolycus Armatus), but I hear they are VERY, VERY difficult to take care of and you would need at least a 500g for one. Anyway I think you should go with an alligator gar. They look cool, get big, and have lots of teeth.

One big fish can get boring. I'd go for a huge school of some Tetras like Neons. 500+ of them would look nice.

I think you should do an aro. My 24" jardini arowana has a 125 to itself, with a couple of pictus cats on the bottom for cleanup.

I wouldn't put a jar in a 125. 180 is minimum in my opinion.

I must agree 1 fish gets boring after awhile... Which ever fish you decide, add a Pleco to clean algae, and some fillers to keep the tank alive. My Daughter's Fire Eel has been very attractive, not your predatory fish, but very cool and friendly. I have a Black Ghoust Knife, a African Knife, and some Rainbow shark as Fillers. I will be moving the African Knife knife to a different tank, and replacing it with small Clown Loaches.
