Ideas for Catfish pond

you can go to a 300g acrylic tank for the same money as a 300g pond so definitly go with the tank it is sooo much less maintenance. now at 1000g or more a pond is way cheaper
Where do you get your tanks at? I can't get a glass 300 for less than $500.

I can get a 300 gallon rubbermaid for $180 though.

I think that with those cats you need something a little bigger. I don't think a 450 would do it for life. They get rather large. I think you should do like a 700 gallon pond. But I think a pond is a good idea. I like viewing cats from the top better anyways.

I got a 350 gal cattle trough for around $145 at my local feed store. Had it for about 9 months now and it works great. I keep huge catfish in it. I'd like to see anyone beat that price for an aquarium the same size. I like it so much in fact I plan on making a slightly smaller one. I am going to get a 150 gal for around $60. ;)

oh yeah, and the dimensions you said you are looking for in a pond are exactly what you are looking for. Mine is 6 ft. dia, and 2ft tall.

if you do a pond make it large, 6' x4' x2' or larger. but if you want an aquarium then go 300-400 gallons. i think a pond would be better because you can always add more fish and grow lillies and such. plus you can have a really nice waterfall on a pond and not really on an aquarium, unless you do the basspro shops thing....lotta money though.

I have an 1100 gal indoor pond and it is a breeze to take care of. I have had two over the side suicides, but I think i solved that prob with plastic poultry wire. You can keep SO many fish in a tank that size. It is totally worth it, even if your tank someday splits and dumps water all over hell and back.
