I am about to order a 350gal tank from Tenecor.

The dimention will be 80X30x36.

This tank will be used as a freshwater tank, and keep aros. I also want to use ultraviolet ultima II 1000 filter (no sump, no overflow).

However I have many questions.

1. Is one ultima II 1000 filter good enough for the filtration?
2. Can anyone recommend a good pump for this filter?
3. When ordering the Tenecor, should I told them I need two holes for filter?
4. If I find out on filter is not enough for this tank, and want to add another filter, is that easy to open two holes by myself?
5. I saw Tenecor tank has two access openings on the top when delivery. Does it come with lids? Because aros are very jumpy.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I'd go with a Ultima 2000 to avoid adding a second filter in the future. I'd also go with an overflow and sump and put pump, thermometers, etc., in the sump to hide everything and gives you the flexibility to use sump in future. Also it will improve water stability with extra volume and allows you to use sump for water changes (good for premixing prime in water, in case you plan on keeping expensive Asian Arowanas).

The only problem with ultima 2000 is its height is over 30". I cannot put it under the stand.

Do you think ultima 1000 is good enough? Should I go with two eheim-2262?

I don't like the sump idea. I am very new to sump. The local fish store charge me $5,000 for sump and plumbing.

It's too expensive for me.

For Ultima 1000, what's the recommended pump?

If the tank size is 450 gallon, what's the recommended pump?

Sorry for too much questions. I am still new.

just learn how to make a sump yourself. it's really a simple concept. i didn't understand either but after researching here it looks pretty easy. i think you will regret it later if you don't.

personally I would do a little reading on sumps while your here and go that way. $5000 is crazy. you could build a sump for far cheeper and make it to fit under your tank. they are great in that your tank is nice and clean nothing in the tank but a small amount of piping and fish. all your heaters and everything is in the sump. I would go sump any day over any other option now they are really simple to build and easy to maintain

I am not a handy guy. I read thos articles already. But I don't think I can do it perfecly. The only way to avoid those headaches is using filter.

Here is my plan:

Option a: buy two eheim-2262 filters

http://www.nextag.com/eheim-2262/stores-html

Option b: one pond filter and one eheim 2262

Do you think it is good enough?
