Ideas for ordering a 350gal tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I spent about $425 on my 75 gallon wet/dry including the media for it. I spent another $230 on the pump and about $150 on plumbing. I could have gone a little cheaper but I wanted a lot of control so I added a lot of ball valves. Building the sump took me a total of about two or three hours. The plumbing took me another three hours.

I would avoid canisters for that size tank. The ultimas are the way to go. Just backwash once in a while. Spend the money and time once on the plumbing and save endless amounts of time forever! If you go with a 1000 then make sure not to overstock. I would just get the 2000 and have it sit next to the tank (It actually looks good). The sump shouldn't cost that much if you are using the Ultima. Basically you can even just use a normal tank have overflow go to the tank/sump and pump into your ultima.

I am not a handy guy. I read thos articles already. But I don't think I can do it perfecly. The only way to avoid those headaches is using filter.

Here is my plan:

Option a: buy two eheim-2262 filters

http://www.nextag.com/eheim-2262/stores-html

Option b: one pond filter and one eheim 2262

Do you think it is good enough?

I am about to order a 350gal tank from Tenecor.

The dimention will be 80X30x36.

This tank will be used as a freshwater tank, and keep aros. I also want to use ultraviolet ultima II 1000 filter (no sump, no overflow).

However I have many questions.

1. Is one ultima II 1000 filter good enough for the filtration?
2. Can anyone recommend a good pump for this filter?
3. When ordering the Tenecor, should I told them I need two holes for filter?
4. If I find out on filter is not enough for this tank, and want to add another filter, is that easy to open two holes by myself?
5. I saw Tenecor tank has two access openings on the top when delivery. Does it come with lids? Because aros are very jumpy.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Seems like odd dimensions for aros. 3 feet tall? 8x3x2' is 360 gallons

I saw a 3 feet with aros. It's very beautiful. My current tank is 26 I think i will go with 36 just for better view.

The place i want to put tank in house house is only 82 long.

I have change the tank size to 80x36x36. So it will be 450 gallons.

patatmblife,

Thanks for the input. I'll go with ultimas 1000 first. If it's not enough, I will add another canister.

I cannot put ultimas 2000 next to the tank. the place i want to put tank is only 82 long. Otherwise I will go to 96x36x36.

Yes, that's why I have to go with ultima 1000. Ultima 2000 is too tall -34 inch.

For Ultima 1000, what's the recommended pump?

If the tank size is 450 gallon, what's the recommended pump?

Sorry for too much questions. I am still new.

1000GPH at 10 feet head.
