Ideas for stocking a 75 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All 3 options are viable so its basically up to what you like more, if I was in your situation I'd either go plan b or c with either a midas or haitian(the black nasty) but its not my tank

Your last option 1 is pretty much exactly what I had. Chocolates are cool, unfortunetly my sev and choc hated each other and eventually I had to choose.

My 75 right now is a midas/rd mix with 7 tiger barbs. Great tank

Well said.

As with all cichlid mixes, it would depend on the characters of the individuals.

The only one that would definately work is a single RD, which would be excellent, of course !

I'd go with option A . . .

if Mom won't let you have one Oscar, than go ahead and have one Chocolate . . . similar size, but nicer temparment and you'll have an easier time keeping your other fishes with it . . .

I might go with option A, but also add a green terror, and as they grow I'll move the green terror to another tank.

I'd scratch all the options and go with a jaguar or red tiger mota pair, just my opinion though.

So I put 3 feeder fish (I always have a few quarantined ones on hand) in the tank about an hour ago to see if the water was safe. They are happily swimming around for now. So I have narrowed my choices down. I will explain each choice after it is posted.

Option A:
1 Green Terror
1 Gold Severum
1 Chocolate Cichlid
1 Salvinii Cichlid
11 Buenos Aires Tetra
1 Spotted Raphael Catfish

I am going to remove two of the cichlids to another tank as they grow, depending on who is the best behaved.

Option B:
3 Red Devil/Midas Cichlid
9-11 Giant Danios

Hopefully I'll get a pair. If I do, I'll remove the odd man out. If not I'll still remove one and then install a divider. If they breed I'll remove the danios.

What are the foot print of a 75 gallon?

It's 48 inches by 18 inches by whatever tall. I'm definitely going to do one of these stocking lists. Basically the same tank, just trying to choose red devil or green terror.

New stock lists:

Option A:
1 Red Devil/Midas Cichlid
10 Giant Danios (will remove if attacked)
10 Tiger Barb (will remove if attacked)

Option B:
1 Green Terror
10 Giant Danio (will remove if attacked)
10 Tiger Barb (will remove if attacked)
1 Spotted Raphael Catfish (will remove if attacked)
