Just my opinion, but a 180 is to small for a dovii for life. I think a grammode would be a better choice if he likes the dovii look. Chocolates can get 12+ if male and might be another choice.

After having lost a midas it really is hard to bond with another and they do have different personalities. Mine was a great community fish and all the others I tried to raise after it did not get along with others. Sounds like your uncle liked the single 'wet pet' so I would keep to that theme, I would suggest staying with amphilophus so maybe a Chancho for sheer size or a Trimac for personality. Or if something different is wanted a big male jag.

well he has made his decision to 4 fish and is now choosing between a male jag, a male dovii, a male Trimac or male butterkoferi once he decides its time to find him the fish!! Thanks for the ideas
