i have not tryed this but it seems like a good idea.... lower your water temp so that it holds oxygen better. buy a long air hose and plug the pump into an extention cord as far from the house as possible. seal the tank and go for it. i bet it would work
no need to run a long hose if you drop the water level there will be enough air in the top of the tank to last 8 hours
my idea would not work any way...it would not be sealed because if you pump air into a sealed tank it would fill up and break the seal

If it was me in this situation I wouldn't want to be risking this. I would pack up all my fish and take them to a fellow hobbyists place that I KNOW is experienced. This way the fish are out of the house and you also know they are being looked after. This just seems the easiest way to me...
