yeah thought so was just slow on the uptake lol
not thought bout eel`s i suppose would be tryin to find one bigenough and are they ok with rays?
not kept them before!
and not really into knife fish to be fair!
cheers for the input

the eels are fairly peaceful, and i think they'd be fine with the rays.
does "cheers" mean "thank you"?

lol yeah it does sorry
so really wot are the size range and species then? might have a look at some threads on these fish agian dont want them to be food!!

here's a quote from the topic "which spiny eel is best for me?". the topic is a sticky in the "eels" area of the bottom dwellers section on the forum. both will fit fine in your tank.

Tire track eel (mastacembelus armatus)
Max size: 24" - 30"
preferred temp: 24-28 degrees celcius
preferred ph: 6- 8
min tank size: 72"x 30"
temperment: semi- aggresive
Tankmates: avoid anything small enough to fit in mouth so avoid fish under 6"
Other notes: this is probably the most aggresive spiny eel mentioned on this list although not growing as large as the fire eel it will take larger prey. It is best to avoid keeping with other mastacembelus eels, it has been done but is not reccomended, keep 1 specimen to a tank.

Fire eel (mastacembelus erythrotaenia)
Max size: 30" - 36"
preferred temp: 24-28 degrees celcius
preferred ph: 6- 8
min tank size: 72"x 30"
temperment: semi- aggresive
Tankmates: avoid anything small enough to fit in mouth so avoid fish under 4"
Other notes: It is best to avoid keeping with other mastacembelus eels, it has been done but is not reccomended, keep 1 specimen to a tank. This is the largest mastacembelid and is best left to those with very large tanks.

cool so will be pretty chunky at that size then, was just worried bout ray pups in tank with some thing that big on the bottom! was thinkin some larger geo`s but its growing them on to get to the size of not being lunch! lol

should be fine... spiny eels like to eat inverts & very tiny fish rather than things as big as ray pups. theyve got rather small mouths for their size.
