Cool... well i'll break them up and then post pics.... I can do this out of the water? Or does the LR need to stay submerged?

+1...it can come out. Even corals can come out of water for an extended period if they are in the right temperatures and kept moist.

If it is going to take you awhile just get a spray bottle to keep everything wet.

The reef is an area of a lot of fluctuations and water level drops at low tide etc...these animals are adjusted to that.

I think stacking up some base rock would be a great idea. Make some caves and areas for the fish to swim through. More corals are always a good thing too.

Some cardinal fish or some other fish that arent shy and stay higher up in the tank would look nice also in my opinion. I really like my pajama cardinals even though it seems like alot of people dislike them.

I agree I need soem more visible stock. What would be some good active swimmers for a 30g wiht my current stock? I'd like to get a wrasse but worried they might eat the pods (reserved those for the mandarin)... Thoughts?

I was thinking about that. I know they are known to nibble at soft corals. Will it be a big issue or is it worth a shot?

Any species recommendations. Obviously flame angles and coral beauties are the most popular. Anything else they would be a striking addition?

Bicolor angels are pretty neat and are fairly cheap as far as dwarf angels go. My dad and I used to have good-sized one (~5") until his one damsel (1") killed it...

Said damsel is being moved to a new aquarium though which is a good segway to me recommending that you avoid damsels (other than clownfishes) like the plague! They may be pretty, active, and cheap, but they're extremely mean fishes!

you should get some mushroom corals and yellow tube coral. Just to add some more color to the tank.

I have a Coral Beauty in my tank and haven't noticed any ill effects on my corals at all. I have never seen it nip any corals.. It is usually picking at the rocks.. I would say get a flame, coral beauty, or a half black would look nice..

I am keeping a pomacanthus navarchus in my reef, and so far I havent noticed him picking at any of my corals. LPS are growing, and being fully extended at all times it seems to me.
