Alright, I thought I'd open my brain storming up to everyone as to what I'm going to do for my next aquarium project.
I've been working on a 10g planted tank for a while, and just decided I don't have enough time to keep up on the specialized water changes (my local water hasn't been the best for plants) trimming, adding fertilizer, changing out the Co2 (hagen) I've owned many, many aquariums over the years, so don't worry about general knowlege, however I am looking to do something that should allow pretty low maintenance.
With this in mind I was thinking mostly fake plants, lots of wood and rocks for aquascaping and perhaps a live plant or two as long as its hardy and slow growing (anubias)
I feel as though the aquascaping, and unique lighting and shading will be the highlight of the aquarium. I am determined to have this be a low maintenace aquarium that is very pretty to look at. This includes a nice stand and canopy (lights on top usually look bad, imo)
I haven't decided on fish yet, or the size of the aquarium, although I'd to keep it relatively small, 20-40g
As far as fish, I'm still pretty open. Obviously if I'm looking for a nice looking aquarium, I'm probably not looking for Piranhas or anything like that (although I like Piranahas and have owned many species) Maybe, blue rams as highlight fish, and small schooling tetras as accient or filler fish, and a cool looking pleco or two. Otherwise I really like Cichlids and haven't owned any for a while, I like the idea of a South American tropical looking aquarium, but maybe also some of the small pretty Africans, so I'm not sure. The only thing holding me back from some cichlids are them keeping me from have any smaller schooling fish like Tetras as fillers (can be very pretty) Unless its a small non aggressive fish like a Blue Ram.
So how you all can participate is by giving me ideas as far as where to take the project, perhaps **pictures** of unique aquascaping that follow the guidelines that I've set. If you have any ideas on aquarium size.
Also, if you have ideas on fish I could get, again **pictures** would be great if you have an idea for me. I realize a Blue Ram might be a bit common so lay some ideas down for me if you have them, also any ideas for cool plecos.
Again with the unique aquascaping if you have some pics of aquascaping that tie in well with the fish that have been suggested. I'm very in to natural looking aquariums.
Thanks for reading and I'm excited to see what ideas come up!
