Looks like a Synspilum x Maculicauda. Body shape is to tall for a zonatus, hartwegi, or fenestratus or any of those.

Definately looks hybrid to me.
Interesting. But I honestly don't see any Blackbelt in the fish. Also, apart from the yellow on the body, I don't see any other Synspilum traits, especially not the characteristic red head and rump. The blue and green in the fins seem to suggest zonatus. I think body shape can vary even within a species.

That doesn't look anything like any zonatus I've ever seen. Zonatus have the red in the fins, the blue on the face is spotty, and they don't have yellow.

Sorry I can't tell you what it is, only what I think it isn't. It very well could be a hybrid sadly.

Yeah true. Keep in mind, though, that this fish is merely 6", and was beat up pretty badly in the previous owner's tank. That may go some way to explaining the general lack of colour. I knew very well it could be a hybrid; in fact I received it as a hybrid. If it was a purebred fish that would be a bonus, but oh well. It's a pretty good-looking fish anyway, and relatively mild-tempered too. I'll take more pics in a week or so, hopefully by then we can make a positive ID.

Thanks everyone for the input.
