Identify gar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From what I know, you have smaller bichirs, that stay fairly small, so he may begin to eat them in a couple months

Alright, I will plan accordingly. Thanks for the info! I got him cheap, so it's not even a big loss if I can't keep him more than a couple months

Well, problem solved. He was apparently too small to put in the tank. I figured he would be fast enough to escape the polyterus but apparently not. Couldn't find him this morning but my endli has a bump in his tummy. Sigh.

The pike characin survived at least, but he's about double the size

So the endli at the gator gar?

Yep.

There goes that problem. The striped like characin will be next so be careful.

The characin is about the same length as the endli so I don't think it will be an issue... Yet. I knew there was a chance of this issue with the alligator gar, but that sucker was fast and that's usually the deciding factor lol.

The endli growth has slowed down, so as long as the characin continues to grow, he shouldn't be of concern for a while. But I'll continue to watch of course.

How big is the endli?

About 8" last I checked. Characin is maybe 1.5-2" shorter

My Sen is 9" and my ornate is around 7"
I've also got a pike cichlid (5"), a clown knife (+-7"), a 4" peacock bass, and an some various other fish (xl angels, Congo tetras, Buenos Aires tetras). Interesting that The Buenos aires tetras, which are the smallest fish in the tank at around 3" haven't been touched but she takes out a 4" alligator gar in a single night. Smh
