Thats a hybrid.
Definately a Tiger Shovelnose/Red-Tail Hybrid. Just knowing what the fish is hybridized from should give you a good indication of how big this monster can potentionally get. Great pick. I got mine for $40 at 4"
Nice to see someone else get one of these awesome hybrid cats. Mines grew about 5" in the past 7 months that I have had him, but I got him at 23", but now he is starting to eat like a hog again so I expect another growth spurt. They become very (dare I say) tame after a while. Mine eats from my hand unless eating live food. he comes to me and I pet him all the time. Now he will even let me pick him up to the top of the water, he's very lazy until feeding time. make sure he has a good hiding spot! Jumbo prawn make up the majority of mines diet. I also give him pieces of fruit sometimes, but sometimes he won't take it. Good luck, and I hope you have a huge tank or pond lined up for him in the future. At the rate mine is growing he'll be more than 3ft. within the next 6 months.
