Identify these eggs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Methane blue is good to put in the egg tank because if other fish aren't going to kill them its going be any bacteria in the water.

Thanks. I assume you mean "methylene blue". The eggs are in my main tank in the net thingy and I don't want to risk putting anything "medicinal" in the water. Would this stuff mess with the BB in my filter?

They look like cory eggs to me. My female spawns a lot, and I have tried all the tricks and have always ended up with fungus issues. The only thing I haven;t tried is to move all the fish out and let the eggs be, so they won't get eaten off the glass. Check the underside of any leaves you have (real or fake). Snail eggs are usually clear jelly blobs with several little clear/white eggs Look like champagne bubbles in clear jello...lol Cory eggs are firm single eggs that look white to tan. Who knows maybe you will get lucky and have some little cory fry very soon. I would be worried about the loaches sucking them right off the glass though.
The last time my female spawned I removed the eggs by clipping the leaves with the eggs on them and put them in a breeder with fine air bubbles under them and they still got fungus. I didn't try any of the meds to ward off the fungus and may try that next time. I was told the Malachite Green, but I was going to try pimafix instead because it is natural, but they got fungus before I could get some.

Good Luck!!!
Michelle

P/S if you want her to spawn again try a 10% water change with a bit cooler water than normal. It mimics rainfall and triggers spawning in the cory's

Whoops I meant Methylene Blue not Malachite Green. I would still try the Pima Fix over anything chemical.

LUCK to you!!

Rawfish;
I was told to use a fine bubble airstone under the breeder net to ward off the fungus. I love your straw siphon, is it giving good water motion over the eggs? Also the Pima fix may ward off fungus too, and its all natural, but any carbon on your filter may "suck" it all up. I am interested to see what happens as I was also told the tan eggs were the viable ones and tossed out the white ones. My tan eggs all dissolved off the leaves too. Hmmmm, I am wondering if I tossed the good eggs and kept the bad ones?? Please keep us informed. I also went out and bought some brine shrimp eggs to hatch and to feed the little guys. It shouldn't be too long before you can see the little fry eyes and some motion. I hope you have success.

Michelle
