not really near los angeles. but im from orange county so that place should be an hr away.
Its worth it, in the website it says $25 per lbs but if you go there it might be only $15, and they have more garnet sand to choose from. I bought the barton 30/40 like what Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 mentioned. But they have different brands, some are more pink some are more purple.

My location - All garnet sand is $20 per 50-55lb bags. It's suppose to be cheaper in the two location by bay area and la. Since they are the KleenBlast distribution hubs, or polyaddict86 simply gets the best deals @ 15-16 bucks a bag, lol . I'd suggest getting 3 bags for a 6x2 footprint.

At first when i called them they said it was $25 for a garnet sand, but when i went their they have so much different brand with different grains, when i asked if they had a barton garnet they showed me 4 different grain and two colors which are red/pink and a purple, then they showed me other brands, some look like pink some look brown and other look crystal purple.

Anyone know if the black stuff is safe? or if there is a safe black "sand". I read the way its made silica sand and coal coke fused together by lots o heat...... not sure bout that.

Blasting sand is often coal slag. Sounds bad but is inert and no silica. I have been using it for the past few years mixed with pfs and am pleased with it. The grains are heavy and do not kick up. Bichir OG James F had/has a gorgeous planted Bichir tank with pfs/blasting sand. It is what inspired me.
