  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok then it's optional then........;)

Looks like a cross between LMB and SMB.

Micropterus Salmoides
I would guess between 14.5 and 16.5 inches and between 3 to 4.5 lbs.
A decent size for the northern strain.
Good Catch!

You might be right on that one because the the places where I go fishing has a green tint to it I guess.

There are 3 different types of Large mouth bass incase people here are wondering. One is the northern bass and the record is like only 8lb and change, then there's the florida LMB which can get to 18-20 lb, and then there's the hybrid bass, which is between the norhtern and the florida. That I know for sure but on appearance.....I'm not sure if there's anthing majorly different.
Northern strain grow much more slowly and actually have topped 11 lbs. The Florida strain actually can top 20 lbs. presumably even 25. The world record was presumed to be a hybrid and was caught in Georgia in 1932 at over 23 lbs.

The only physiological difference between the two strains is that the Florida strain and hybrids have twice as many scales above and below the lateral line as the Northern strain. This is perhaps due to the longer growing season in Florida which may also have altered the metabolism over time

As for the color of bass, they can change. For you fisherman/women, I ask you to try this little experiment. If you have a boat with a live-well you can do this. Catch a bass (small mouth are better for this ex) and take note (or even a picyure if you can) of its color and pattern. Put it in the live-well and continue doing what you are doing. In about 30 min. take the bass out and look at it. It will be way darker than when you put it in there. This is no scientific break through, its just something cool to do if you have the chance.

Oh yeah, after the expriment, release the bass :grinyes: .
