I've been told by a breeder that the 1.5 inch fish was a golden jaguar cichlid...now I've got people telling me its other parachromis varieties.

Ideas?

Because a gold morph managuense is basically line bred, there will be individuals in any spawn that present variations of normal coloration.
A lot has to do with how many generations of the gold morphs have been bred together to set the gold gene.
That said, the first two shots look similar to a female motaguense, or La Ceiba, although it could be the light reflection of the flower pot creating a more red illusion.

But the latest two shots, that present the smaller spots on the lower jaw, look male.

What I want know is why so many threads where a “breeder” sells fish that aren’t the species you think you are getting. Who are these “breeders”? Scammers or just don’t know what they are breeding?
I will only buy fish from TUIC, Cichlids of the Americas or The Wet Spot. But from those places, there is no confusion or questing what you bought.
