IMO its not very hard to tell scombs from armatus once theyre 2" or larger.
no mistakes....the japs know their fish.;)
bro, I saw the batch of scomb u got from c328 this afternoon, I think I more or less know the diff between scomb and armatus, esp in the curvature of the back and the shines on the body. Shape of the lips as well.

One is concave, one is relatively more convex.

and you get all the cool fish for cheaper, wish i could afford to get and off a batch of tem. pbass. :'(

look at a 1 inch armatus.
they dont have a very curved back either.
that IMO is not the way to tell them apart.
shine as well.
did you see one of calisucks' pics of his bigger armatus?
it was shinier than any scomb ive seen at that size.
ive also seen shiny tats.
armatus have huge tails compared to scombs.

I saw Calisuck's pics already, also the video on youtube.
Salivating, but I will do the same one fine day, with a shoal of armatus from 2-3 inches and a shoal of Kelberi + Orinos.:grinno:

I just need some true effort and time to go and find these fishes.:grinno:
