Ohh okay we'll stores selling fish they don't know how to care for is nothing new ( Petsmart, Petco, Walmart and many other small pet stores ) all sell these and other fish knowing next to nothing about them it is indeed sad

I'm kind of thinking that those catfish are kind of like salmon, they start their lives in freshwater and then slowly end up in saltwater. So, how hard would be for someone to to have a slowly evolving tank from freshwater to basically saltwater, with those cats inside?

I just thought this would get a kick out of you guys, seeing as though this mall pet store sells their puppies close to $2,000 a pop and this tank with the fish was like 10 gallons and the only tank in the store! Lovely right?

@SOKO: you can convert a freshwater system to brackish or marine without affecting the cycle by raising it less than .02 SG daily.

i reckon there should be a person to go inspect all the "pet shops"
and see if they really do no what there doing if not then yeah ban them from keeping fish lol or make them take a course on how to take care of fish ...?

Unfortunately fish in the eyes of many governments and people are just through away pets, so there are no laws to protect them, and if there was it would be near imposable to enforce. But with that said there are starting to become more laws, and people who care for all pets.

As long as I don't see any more of the yahoo’s who think that all animals are better off dead then in captivity. I bet you if you where to hold a gun up there head and ask them if they want to live in a one room house with a some basic amenities for he rest of there life or be shot on the spot they would choose the house.

If I where I would find a book with a good set of care instructions for them and show the store owner how these guys need to be cared for, and maybe you can get them out of there and help him choose some fish that would better suite his store.
