Wow, never realized I missed the lab being a hybrid.

Look at the shape of the "mystery fish". It is def. a mbuna.

The closest thing I believe it to be (if not a hybrid) is a Psuedo. sp Tropheops Checkered. Not common at all and turn yellow when larger.

Yea, I have a Tropheops and it looks nothing like this.
