The 12" death myth is refering to the first one the scomb.

The second link is all messed up. First the fish in the pic is a Tatauaia but it is labeled a raph.

I called TFD when i got my cuda's and they said that the fish in the pic is what you get. So the second one is of a Hydrolycus tatauaia.

They do better in groups with as many as you can get. But 3-4 is certainly better than 1. A single specimen is very boring and skittish. They grow very slow at about 1" per year. They eat live fish and some have been able to convert them over to dead things like shrimp, smelt. But we have yet to see 1 live very long on a dead diet. They will not mess with any fish that is bigger than food size, which is 1/3rd there size or smaller. And they can be bullied very easily by most aggressive fish.

And yes 49.99 for a tat is a good price.

Also, I think I'll put them in with rays. Thats cool right?

That depends on the size of the rays as well as the payara,I have heard of rays in tanks killing even Armatus and trying to eat them.
