I see people post pics of themselves in their tank all the time but is it safe?
I need to lay down tile in my tank and can't reach the bottom so good.
I have a 220 Perfecto 1/2" glass and I weigh 135 lbs.

the only reason that I got into mine. is b/c it's 1" glass with a 1" oak bottom that is attached. I dought I would get into any other tanks. unless the glass was flush with something like a stand. and standard tank rims prevent the glass from sitting flush on anything.

so be carefull and if you do go in make sure you step in flat footed try to even your weight out as much as possible.

ive been in a 150 glass no problems. tank even had a chip in the bottom and i weigh 150 lbs. BUT if your putting down tile do not step on the tile that is on the glass. two hard surfaces like that with alot of weight on em could cause problems.

this would be a good time to enlist the help of a gf, little sister, brother or any real light-weight person. im around the same weight as you, and i doubt i would feel too good standing inside my tank.

im not an expert, but 130lbs of weight in a small area on glass dont give me any warm fuzzy feelings at all.

Based on the assumption that 220 perfectos are 7X2X2, because i dont know the actual size, then this is true:

The tank typically holds 220 gallons of water, about 1900 lbs over a surface area of 2016 inches on the bottom panel. That is about .94 lbs per inch on your bottom piece of glass. Now figure you, say a 150 lb person, standing on two feet, 150 lbs displaced say over 28 inches (while standing) is 5.3lbs per square inch. That said, I wouldnt stand in my tank... Granted, your surface area would be much more if you were say, sitting on your butt or kneeling down...

Thanks for everyone's input.
Yea, it seems scary but I'm short, and reaching down with slate tile is almost impossible.
Also, the little lady is not interested in climbing in so it's all me. lol

Wow.
I'm dumb.
What do I do now?

get a ladder and lean

Snatch a kid from the park and get 'em to do it.

The ladder idea might work better in the long run, though.
