In life, there will always be someone with a bigger, better, faster, more expensive tank, car, boat, whatever, with more bells and whistles than you have. My dream tank and fish room is a 4,000 gallon in wall system that is incredible. I look at the picture of this gorgeous tank/fish room for inspiration. I am not going to be down that my tank is so much smaller. I look at peoples beautiful planted tanks and the tanks with colorful fish, and tanks that are beautifully decorated and landscaped. I admire and appreciate the beauty of everyone's tanks. I cannot have a planted tank or a decorated tank because my demolition crew is injury prone. While my fish aren't colorful, I will continue to love their perpetual grins and their jovial dispositions. I will take great joy in watching them accelerate and swim almost twice the distance they have now before they have to turn around.
When I see pictures of other peoples tanks, I will be happy that their tanks are so beautiful and that the fish are so loved and cared for. Size does not matter. "bigger is better" is an infantile concept....that's the little kid who chooses the penny over the dime because the penny is bigger. It's what you do with what you have that really matters. we are trying to be responsible fishkeepers, doing our best to provide suitable housing for our fish.
