A couple of years back I had 2 fancy goldfish in a 22 gallon long, now that I think of it.

Really enjoyable set-up, quite relaxing compared to my usual barbs or cichlid assortment lol

Loved reading all these responses. lots of great ideas out there. I had another one I would consider is a planted pea puffer tank. I have had all sorts of puffers those little guys are so darn cute.

I'd either keep a pair of super red bn's and a group of wild sword tails or a small group of apistos or nanulotus. If for some reason I cant do either, shellies all the way!
Both would have tons of plants.
I actually have 2 20 longs free, so this really helped.

I had a 20gal long fully planted with shrimp. Than I used it for Betta fish divided the tank. Then I kept nano fish with plants. It is a great tank to have. Perfect for my little loves Sparkeling gouramis.

If I could only have one it would be my 80gal. It took years to get it perfect but the plants grow so well it's low maintenance that tank is balanced so well. My angels love it.
