I have species tanks of all the listed plecos plus LDA105, L273, L453, L65, L82, L49, L47, L177, L282, L427 and L48 (the OP has seen them). I voted for L25 by a slim margin. I think I have ~9 seven pointers that run from 10" to 16" in a 275 gallon tank. Eventually I think my LDA105 or Albino Adonis may move into 1st place.

I'm surprised, Vic. Thought you were a Royal guy with the number of them in your display tank. L25 is a very respectable choice, especially the 7-pointers.

I think you should post pics of your species tanks of the top choices for all to enjoy;)

nice, I better post pics of my collection. Well, if you call an l128, 2 bn plecs, an l01, and an l104 a collection :D

You gotta start somewhere. I fell in love with plecos when my parents got me a tropical fishkeeping book in kindergarden, there was a pic of a leopard L001, and since then, I have been a pleco fanatic.

LDA105 "typhoon pleco" cactus types are one of my favorite also one of the rarest holy
grail pleco.

Question: does the rarity of the LDA105 make them your favorite or is it just icing on the cake in addition to their spots and red points? Not a flame here, I am really just curious.

You putting on the spot here,

I like LDA105 because they are a cactus type.
Their spots are nice and white, with a get black body with red points on tail and dorsal.
Since it one of the most rare and expensive pleco out there, yes that put the icing.
I just wish it didn't cost that much icing to buy it.:)

If i get a chance to get to the west coast id love to see your tanks if possible.

Id like a massive tank with 20-30 l091's.

I've never seen RECUMBENT'S collection but his pleco reputation carries wide and far. He has practically every pleco one can think of and just about all the rare plecos, not just one but a group of each species! He officially owns a pleco zoo. lol.

I am one of the lucky MFKers to see Recumbent's collection. His show tank is amazing, then you see his goldie tank, then he shows you the garage with all the different colonies. I don't think anyone in the world has a collection comparable to his. Now he just needs to put his displays in L# numerical order (kidding).
