iICH .....help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just fought ich..if u have substrate take it all out..with baby cichla they are better off with bare bottom no substrate keep temp at 86 with plenty of oxygen..i stripped my substrate out bumped the temp to 86 used salt and its getting better now

I usually go with a half dose of one of the green meds. My issue with salt and heat is that some strains of ick are pretty resilient and by the time you figure out you need meds it is too late.

Like others have said no matter which method you use make sure you have plenty of oxygen in there

Tetra Ich-Guard, i used one treatment, and it was gone in 48hrs......

srry to hear man. i wud say just keep up w the normal treatment but since u lost 4 of em already i may go for the treatment. if i recall correctly i think u wanna use like half dosage with small pbass. wen did u get back into the hobby?

I would use a treatment. I picked up my bahia at 1 inch over the summer and it had ich according to wes fugu he said bump the temp add salt and use ich treatment i followed his instruction and now my guy is strong and healthy. I think you should use maybe a half dose of the med those that is what i did and when i tell you my bahia had ich bad i thought it was def a not going to live.

If you've already lost fish, i'd use this. Just run the meds you're using by the guys here to make sure they're cichla safe. I've used a few in half doses along with salt and temp increases and have never lost a cichla to ich.

picked up some baby orinos and the ich will not go away.

i am doing salt treatments along with temps at 88 and eod wc and it does not help.

i am thinking of going to the chemicals to help

any other suggestions?

Know what you mean. Seems like all the very recent baby orinos batches have ich. I have got to ask, what amount of salt are you putting in? .01%?, .03%?... how many teaspoons per gallon? The ones I just got developed ich very quickly in my quarantine tank. bumped the temp to 86 degrees and used 2 teaspoons per gallon. Ich went away in two days. I am still treating for a full 14days. Also, what is your bioload,... is it heavily stocked, low bio-load? is your tank fully cycled?

Ya if your losing fish meds is the way to go. Im not a fan of meds either but sometimes you have to. I had ick twice and meds cleared it up quick.
