I want to hear your thoughts if Ikea's side tables will be good enough to handle a 60 gallon tank.

I am using two of the same side tables as a stand for my 40 gallon acrylic. I am thinking of upgrading to a 60 gallon tank and using the same tables as the stand. The two tables if sitting side by side will be short by 6 inches if it is supporting a 4' 60 gallon tank. I am planning on using a piece of plywood and have a 6" space in between the tables.

By the way, it is mainly made of particle board.

So what do you guys think? Will the tables be strong enough to support a 60 gallon acrylic tank?

those things are pretty flimsy bro but i think can handle a 60g.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend it either but it is currently supporting my 40 gallon tank and its looking stable. A 60 gallon tank is about 200 lbs more though....

Hey Ky, I sent you a text message bro.

it may work for a time but I can see that failing pretty quick. Especially with ikea's quality. particle board!

How heavy would a filled 60 gallon tank be?

IKEA makes aquarium stands now? :D

I wouldn't recommend it!!!

DONT DO IT BRO, look on craigslist or something for a stand , iron stands are pretty cheap in the stores even. Ikea crap sux, my bed frame is from Ikea and only 3 months old and Literally collapsed on me last night. no B.S.. I definitly wouldnt rish a tank on it.
