ill never use melafix again!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i try salt first and the fix if needed only used it once and had no problem

I have used this many times and what I have determined is this, if your fish have trouble breathing then stop immediately. I have noticed that it is harder on larger fish, smaller ones, even of the same species, don't seem to be as adversely affected as larger ones. This stuff killed my beautiful discus, but I believe it was oxygen related and nothing else. I have not used it in a year or so and just tried it again with large Angels. Right now they are hanging at the top of the tank and clearly stressed. Even with salt in the mix and increased aeration! Use this stuff with caution.

So, these are your first two posts, and you basically hunted down and reopened a 1 1/4 year old thread on a good product if used how directed?

i put in some melafix into my tank just now cuz i saw one of the fish i got yesterday had some cut or something. man that thing made my fish go BERSERK!!!! EVERYTHING that was healthy started shimmying, scratching themselves on the gravel, trying to jump out of the water after like 10 minutes! i was freaked out! after watching for 20 minutes i did a 66% water change. this medication is insane! what the heck is this stuff? it's supposed to cure open wounds and stuff, not make fish go nuts. i dosed correctly - very conservatively in fact. i will never use this crap again. i've used stuff that's crazy strong like clout and NOTHING ever reacted badly to that.
i got this medication cause it was supposedly all natural - BS! this stuff made my fish (all except one are very very healthy btw) all clamp up their fins, start gasping and all that nonsense. it's scary! i will never use this product again!

It is the lack of oxygen and not the melafix itself causing the problem. If you increase Your areation melafix works well.
