Thanks dmopar.
anywho, i dont see why it makes people so mad that fish are called a different name. Jag/Managuanese, Jardini/Gulf Barramundi, Pirarucu/Arapaima, list goes on.

wouldnt risk keeping them u could get a $250,000 fine or up to 5 years in prison

Thats what I was refering to. When did Leichardti become SBT or spotted bonytounge?
Look it up on Fishbase. And the first syllable of the scientific name does not count as a common name.

I'm sorry to say, but ALL asian arowanas are illegal here in the states.
Chipped or not, certificate schermecertificate.. Absolutely no asian aros.

Jardini is your alternative. And so is:
Silvers.
Blacks.
Africans.
Leis..
I thought Black Arowanas were illegal too?

Actually Bony Tongues is not a made up name. They are so called for obvious reasons and include asians, australian, south american aros and arapaimas. The description comes from "Osteoglossum" meaning bony tongue.Although Asians ore not Osteoglossums, they are still classified as BT's

As are Knife fish and Butterfly fish.
