I think you did your part, you warned the LFS. If they cared about their hobby then they would honor the system. The fact that they know they are breaking the law, says something about them.

The only thing you can do is mention it to the store owner once, and tell them i don't have a problem with you carrying the fish but I don't want to see you closed down because of some stupid law you might not know about.

If they need proof, there's the Restricted Species Lists (listed by stste) in the sticky section of the Buy/Sell forum. Just print it out and show it to the lfs. Then, the onus of responsibility falls to the lfs.

dont worry about it. all gar are illegal in ur state.

I agree with Leopardhalitosis platypus. You've done your part, don't loose sleep over it. You did a good deed trying to protect them buy hey, it's their problem.

are you saying im a platypus eatting leopard with bad breath? lol

I personally would go in, and hold a gun to the store owners head and tell him to look at the list of illigal fish that I printed out. Pref a .50 cal so he knows I mean buisness. Once he read about the gar's I would walk him to the gar tank and ask him "WTF is that?? hua??" point out the list once more, and tell him to fix it. All jokes aside you probably did the right thing, point it out and let them handle it.

if they were at all interested in their business surviving they would check it out for themselves. i know i would be straight on the phone or internet to check if it was my business possibly at risk.
its true that they will likely be euthanised but dont feel guilty because you didnt buy them into stock. thats the shops responsibility to check these things not you so the blood is on their hands.
at least you are bothered enough to try, if only more people were these days.

Who cares if they know or don't honestly? It's their problem. They won't be shut down, just cited and fish seized. Really not a big deal. Leave it alone.

Could a store carry illeagle fish "in that state" but offer it for sale only to out of state residents?

Gun stores here in NJ carry lots of state banned guns only for sale to out of state residents.

Me thinks a banned gun is more dangerous than a banned fish. :screwy:
