The electric catfish; Family: Malapteruridae, Genus/species: Malapterurus electricus is not on the restricted species list in CA. Ergo, not illegal. Didn't realize this needed to go beyond the posted list.

Just to clear some confusion. The law does ban freshwater eels, in this case however an electric eel is not actually an eel it is in the knifefish family

The law doesn't ban all eels. Only those of the genus Anguilla.

Wow figures in a state filled with liberal hippies, I see it says Carl and minnows, so does that include comet goldfish, koi, rosy minnows, and shark minnows like bala sharks and others?
