Never kept a poly with a knife honestly, you don't want anything slim with a poly though (Like a dojo loach or anything). Synodontis catfish are generally considered pretty safe since they're pretty heavy bodied. However, you're looking at getting an upper jaw... they're not as proficient at murdering fish since their mouth doesn't really have the capacity to snatch anything even close to their circumference. Honestly depending on the size of the knife I'd be more concerned with it bullying the poly than vice-versa
The syno is already fat enough to avoid a full size del or whatever I think and it is still growing. The knives are slowly growing but at 4" and 5" they are safe IMO, and they are getting better at procuring food.

They are african knives, they don't bully anyone any more than pushing them outa the way like when the salvini is eating where they want to eat, I don't think any issues will arrive there. there is a lot of wood spots and some pipes as well for hiding already :)

Yeah you should be fine, get a poly in there before they get big enough to do any damage and you should be fine. Polys are usually REALLY placid, especially UJs. There's of course the rare exception, but usually when you get a devil poly it's a huge WC specimen, the CBs and smaller polys are usually chill and opportunistic. You'll just have to watch the food to make sure the poly doesn't get outcompeted by the other tank members, especially when little (The growout is great for making sure it gets well established before joining the community)

Wowww I need a siren in my life.

They're really neat, and kind of funny to watch, they kind of paddle themselves around on those stumpy little arms :) I've heard horror stories with them and tankmates (though I think the lessers are a bit more chill than the greaters) so be prepared for a species only tank, but unlike a lot of salamanders lesser sirens are happy in the 70s to low 80s, so no chiller required unless you live on the actual sun :D

Hello by the way!
Good to hear your mfk active again, Zilch.
Not one hundred percent sure what happened, but I have scoliosis and will probably have to go under the knife in the next five years.
What is it with us poly lovers and surgery.

Thanks! :)

Sevvvvvvvverely herniated discs in my case, I kind of shrugged it off for nearly 3 years until one day couldn't stand anymore, I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone shopping for a lifelong injury! As for why? I blame all the big tanks and maintenance ;) Too much heavy lifting!

Good luck with your surgery though (when/if), it was a serious life changer for me (in a good way mostly), so it's not all bad!

Things to look out for LOL - both my boyfriend and I have back issues - gonna have to team work the heavy tank stuff.

Yeah, my scoliosis is focused in my upper back and neck - really not looking forward to it but at least I might stop looking like a turtle sticking it's neck out. Hopefully it will end the migraines it causes as well - ugh. It sucks, if I just sleep the slightest bit wrong my whole day is pain.
Cant imagine what you went through, is it more a pinching feeling in your case?

Sorry, definitely not poly related - but I'm a biologist so I'm auto interested in sciencey things.
