That's hilarious, it's like we're living the same life hahaha I had to wrap up posting because she was giving me the stinkeye for being antisocial

Worried about having a submerged return because I'll either lose a ton of pressure by putting an elbow at the top to make a siphon break, or have it siphon out when the power goes off, I was considering cutting down the existing overflow from the bottom and adding an inner one so it would draw from the bottom on one side of the overflow and from the top on the sides but I have no idea how effective that is. I know they manage this kind of stuff for hydroponics, but it doesn't seem to be very popular in aquaria. Maybe a powerhead near the bottom (or 2, or 3) to keep the bottom of the tank constantly circulating so the crud gets suspended and eventually breaks up and ends up in the overflows? Stand is coming today so I'll be able to vinegar bathe it to get all the coraline calcium stuff off the sides of the tank, so that's pretty exciting, might be able to have them in their new tank Sunday or Monday depending on how that goes!
Power head would probably be the easiest. Maybe you can gt jiggy with it and tee off the return and have one coming from the bottom and top of the overflow with a check valve just under the drains... i dont know that inwould feel safe witha check valve though

Yeah, with all the problems with have with our sprinkler system check valve I wouldn't trust it, probably better off doing either some wavemakers or some low gph powerheads to move things around. Both turtles are pretty proficient swimmers so they won't hate the flow as much as a poly would :o

And because I mentioned the new additions-

One of the turtles (Northern Diamondback Terrapin)... there's a pink belly sideneck hiding in there but it's a bit less social. Sorry for blur, turtles never stop begging long enough for a photo op lol:
