I'm back and need to vent...

Last time i went on a work trip I asked my wife to feed my sev tank 3 - 4 jumbo NLS pellets a day............./................/...............Well I got home a week later to find out that she fed 3 - 4 huge pinches of NLS jumbo pellets daily............which meant about no less than 100+ floating pellets and 2 balloon sized sevs (gold and rotkeil!!!!!).............a 80 % W/C ....twice, and luckily no losses, but i learned to individualise and prepacket all my fish food when i go on trips now!!!!!!!!!!!!..................scarry............and milk sorry for your losses.......................ziplock bags will be your friend in the future........dont give up bro............:D :)

I lost about 300$ worth of fish and now I have to go out and buy another heater for my tank that has ick and pray to god I dont loose my jag or jur...

really though how hard is it to call me and say your fish are getting spots and are dieing.... I dont understand how some one cant follow a freaking list on how to feed a fish...

this is why i never went on vacation when my fish where young :irked:
 
automatic feeders are costly, but i haven't had any losses thanks to mine. i'm going to florida for two weeks in a couple of weeks, and some of my fish are young, so i'm a little nervous, but it should be ok. the feeders can go for 4 weeks before running out of battery
 
here is what i did for my 3.5 weeks vacation

1. feed LIGHT! i was doing every 3 day feeding... they can live without eating for 1+ week!!!

2.i use ziplock bags packed for each feeding and for each tank. so the Fish Watcher dont over feed... and Pack it LIGHT!!! even thou i have a 24/7 new water changer... i still pack it light... i have 50% of what i normally feed... so the nitrate will not go up....

4. # yours tanks... each zip lock bag has a # to match with tank... so no mess up

5. make a feeding calendar.. try to feed all at the same day.. so the keeper dont get confuse. i made feeding day bags.... so you put all your feeding bag for that day into these bags...

i know its alot of work... but it works...

that is my 2cent...
 
neo, sad thing is I did all that. only thing i dident do is put the food in a ziplock :(...

It's sucks having young fry who need to eat alot more than my big fish :cry:
