I'm back.. With Tig

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
quickest way to start the nitrogen cycle is if you take an establish sponge filter and squeeze all the water out the sponge filter into a bag, then take that bag water home n dump it into ur filter. or take a piece of fish/shrimp from market n let it rot in ur tank. i suggest the sponge filter technique.

my pH is 7.8, once again dont overthink it. u will do more harm changing the pH then help. when u get the tig home, just drip acclimate n have the tig adapt to ur water.

follow the simple golden rules n u r good my man, the first tig always makes everyone nervous (including me), CLEAN WATER my friend n ur good. Also another tip, dont overfeed, its okay at whatever size to feed every other day. i feed my tigs every other day. dont overthink it, follow the rules n enjoy ur fish

Ok man sounds good I can't wait to get him home and throw some pictures/video up for you all to see. Do you think he'll be good to come home by Friday or Saturday with the way things are going currently?

the fact that u dont have nitrates, makes me think ur tank is not cycle yet. everything should b zero but u should have some nitrate readings.

I hope you are familiar with the API test kits these are the readings I got from the tests a few minutes ago... Im color blind so I thought I'd post pictures to see what you guys think.

OK can so you can see the ammonia test is coming up clear, I believe that to be good and have seen it that way with other peoples tests. What do you guys think about the other two?

Can't believe u didnt ask the guy whose name is "Tig Phish" for advice on tigs. Raised 4x tigs:

1. temp 78-82, higher the temp the more oxygen u need
2. keep the tank highly oxygenated, strong surface agitation
3. CLEAN WATER
4. avoid feeding shrimp or any crustaceans, my tigs love tilapia n black worms

Don't overthink it when keeping tigs, just follow those simple rules n ur golden

@OP: Tig Phish is a straight-face joker. You will learn soon :) That's w.r.t. the first sentence.

The advice is pretty agreeable on my part. Good advice. As Tig Phish says later on, add "do not overfeed" as #5.

#6 a hiding place is a good idea as is plenty of swimming place with strong current.

#4 is debatable. Whilst I follow the same rule as a precaution because I'm unwilling to experiment with my tigs and there is no real need to, there exist roughly 50% of tig keepers reporting no problem, short or long term, offering some crustaceans to their tigs. See this to learn more, where I have been trying to compile the relevant links on the topic: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/help-with-tig-catfish.598702/
