Yeah, I would leave any of the real monsters for special order. You may end up with having to hold onto the same fish for months before the right customer comes along. Don't think the store would be too happy with that, lol. I would stock the usual stuff that sells fast and then have a few "special fish" that might sell and that the average customers would be willing to pay for like ebjds, honduran red points, powder blue rams, discus, etc. I would only order monsters once in a while or keep them for special orders only. I've seen lots of stores that had lots of monsters that no one wanted to buy and they would just sit in the same display tanks month after month.
- Tiger Shovelnose Catfish
- Red Tail Catfish
these fish should be special order 75-100 dollars each.
I remember you. Good to see you back.
i am sooooooooo happy to see your back Alex.......... you know you are one of my favorite people.............
HAS EVERYONE LOST THEIR MIND? Yes, Stock all those fish you listed!!! The rarer the better! People who eventually find out about it's rare occupants will swoop in for the catch! The rest will wonder why your prices are so high for a fish, and when you explain their rareity (sp?) you can expect customers for life!!! and what better way to sell BIG filters, BIG tanks, LOTS of food, feeders, and make BIG profits in the mean time. I think you should do exactly what you set out to do! I think it will be a BIG success!
Yeah I remember you, you were MFK's 1,000,000 poster. Also as I recall you stole my avatar. LoL
I think what some people are not realizing is that you specifically mentioned that the store is for "exotic pets" thus meaning you attract or want to specifically cater to a clientele that is looking for precisely that. If you carry common fish and only offer monsters/rarer fish on special order your giving people no incentive to shop at your store. Other large pet shop chains are just as able to get their clients "rare" fish from their distributors. I'm sure there are species that you can that some stores can't, but why would people ask if they see an oscar tank? Maybe ordering less predators and swaping in some fancy plecos or some other rare non piscavore well help attract clients while also not occupying to much tank space/taking to long to sell.
