There are at least 5 species of Paratilapia, but because some parts of Madagascar are so remote, there may be more.
They are get similar in size, and aggressiveness is relative to tank size
At maturity, in an even 300 gal tank some will seek out and kill other Paratilapia species.

These 2 adult males are fight ng above a 16¨floor tile in a 300 gal kiddy pool, and wouldn´t stop trying to kill each other, they are both about 12¨TL.

Left is Paratilapia andapa, right is Paratilapia polleni cf small spot. I have kept a few others
There separate species from the island of Nosey bee
separate species separated by geography, from southern Magagascar, central, east west and north, different river systems, and lakes, just as there are many species of the Madagascan genus Ptychochromis (below).
Calling them all just generic starry nights just because they look similar, is quire inane, and short sighted
Its kind of like calling all Hericthys of the genus Texas cichlids

And many species in the Madagascan genus Paretroplus (below)

The island of Madagascar is 8 times larger than the country of Panama, each region has the abilty to contain many different and separate species.
