Oddly my first one got to 22" or so. The next two silvers had drop eye and the last silver was the freak accident. This one should be just fine once I get it on Pelleted and frozen foods. Been a good year so far, there is much hope in the air. Thanks for the good vibes

GL with the new aro. I just backread on this thread and somehow learned about silvers being prone to DE, that sucks. Hope your black doesn't develop DE/jump/have another freak accident. I'm fairly new to the hobby(just started fishkeeping last August 2012), but we managed to, maybe not a show-type aro, but we did manage to raise 1 silver and 1 rtg(both are doing fine inside 1 tank[knock on wood]), we did have a casualty though, a banjar aro which died to an unknown disease... As for jumping aros, the silver is approximately 11~14inches now and is skittish as hell, jumps all the time, but what I did was to put the water on a high level and place a 1/4" glass as cover. Well anyways, enough with my short exp, just wanted to share a bit. .

... And good luck, again!

i started keeping aro's in middle school. They have always fascinated me since I was very little. I must have had at least five die due to rookie mistakes as a kid (chlorine, jumping, etc). But took notes and kept on. It's extremely frustrating, relate with ya on that.
But good luck man, your black is beautiful, Great fish. Be proactive, do your research and you'll be fine.
